Borealis Maritime employs its own in-house technical and operation team in London, Hamburg, Istanbul and Rotterdam to oversee the technical management of its fleet, undertake pre-purchase inspections, provide budgetary control, attend dry-docking, attend various operational and administrative matters, and handle or supervise any repair requirements. As part of the activities, the company cooperates with a number of independent third-party technical managers.
We recognise that technical expertise is a key ingredient for operational efficiency and maintaining the physical condition of any vessel to the highest standard. Our managers are diligently selected and through our intensive monitoring programme and regular vessel visits, we ensure that the provision of such technical services are carried out in both a highly professional and competitive manner. Key supplier contracts, such as lube oil purchases and the placement of insurance, are all controlled in-house.
In 2016 Borealis Maritime established its own technical management arm, Borealis Denizcilik, in Istanbul, Turkey. The technical management company focuses primarily on technical management of chemical tankers and containerships managed within the Borealis Group, but with a view to also offer services to third party owners in the future.
